As with portraits, textures work beautifully with land, sea, and what I call Beachscapes. Now, as with all projects using textures the image editing should be completed prior to the texture stage. The best way to do this is to first try on different textures via layers, turning them on an off to see if they display your vision. You should also go through the blending modes for each, which can give you really nice effects.
Now, you can also use color to give you more depth to the image. Warm colors tend to come forward, while Cool colors recede. You can use a brush at a low opacity and lightly
brush over some of the shadows and some background areas with a cool color like blue, purple, etc… This will add a bit more depth….
